Position Title: Full-Time Teaching Assistant (Grades 3/4 – 1:1 Support)

Position Overview
Fishers Island School is seeking a Full-Time Teaching Assistant (TA) to provide dedicated 1:1 academic and behavioral support for a student in Grades 3/4, while also assisting with general classroom activities as needed.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized academic, social, and behavioral support to a designated student in the Grades 3/4 classroom, under the direction of the classroom teacher and special education staff.
- Assist with daily instruction, small-group work, and differentiated learning activities.
- Implement and reinforce Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals, accommodations, and behavioral strategies.
- Foster independence, self-regulation, and positive social skills.
- Supervise the student during transitions, lunch, recess, and special area classes, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Communicate and collaborate regularly with teachers, service providers, and administrators to ensure consistent and effective student support.
- Assist with classroom preparation, organization, and school-wide events when appropriate.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience working with children is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, patience, and organizational skills.
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Commitment to confidentiality and student well-being.
- Flexibility and enthusiasm for working in a small school environment.
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-Time: Approximately 35–38 hours per week, aligned with the school day and calendar.
- Competitive hourly wage or annual salary based on experience and qualifications.
