Roxana Beatriz Alvarado Mendez and Jackson Oakes Howard were married on October 26, 2013 at the Lava Lava Beach Club on Anaeho’omalu Bay, on the Kohala Coast of Hawai’i.
The officiant, Timothy Beneski, was the groom’s English teacher and soccer coach at Avon Old Farms School. Mr. “B” is now a teacher at the Hawai’i Preparatory Academy in Waimea, Hawai’i. Best man was Sam Howard, the groom’s brother. Matron of Honor was Karen Rivas, the bride’s best friend.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard reside in Washington, DC. She is the daughter of Margarita Mendez of San Salvador, El Salvador, and he is the son of Roger and Nora Howard of Avon, CT, and of Fishers Island, NY. Jackson is a grandson of the late Tom and Ellie Oakes, Fishers Island summer residents.
