The race went on, in the pouring rain!

Registration began at 8:00 at the Firehouse and the Race began at 9:00 AM from various locations up the Island.

The winners of each division:

1A: 1 mile for runners aged 12 or younger (starts at the Library)
1A male: Wes Allen
1A female : Morgan Pagnini

1B: 1 mile for runners over age 12 (starts at the Library)
1B male : Porter Goss
1B female: Leslie Goss

3: 3 miles (all ages) (starts near “Four Corners”)
3 first male: Owen Allen
3 first female: Brianna Beck

5: 5 miles (all ages) (starts on Main Road @ Top of the World Road)
5 first male: Jack Tierney
5 first female: Julia diBonaventura

8: 8 miles (starts at the “Castle” gate) (11 runners did the 8 miles this year)
8 first male: Garnett Reid
8 first female: Nicole Trevor

Due to the weather, there were fewer marathon participants and hence, fewer funds were raised. But you can help! If you have not done so already, please consider a donation to the Sea Stretcher.
It is funded by contributions from people like you!

This annual Sanger Marathon raises much-needed and appreciated funds to support the FI Fire Department’s M/V Sea Stretcher. This boat, fitted out as a seagoing ambulance, is a critically important lifeline for the Fishers Island community to the medical resources available at L&M Hospital and others on the mainland. It is operated by FIFD volunteer captains & navigators along with the EMTs.

There will be no pre-registration, so please print your forms out from the button links below, complete, and bring them to the Fire House to register and receive your runner number.

Be sure you arrive at the Fire House in time to register before 8:45 and get to the starting point for your class by 9:00! Limited transportation to the starting points will be available, and we are looking for drivers – especially to the starting points at Four Corners, the Castle, and Top of the World Road.

As soon as you have your registration form, decide the Class you wish to enter.  There will be the following Classes:

1A: 1 mile for runners aged 12 or younger (starts at the Library)
1B: 1 mile for runners over age 12 (starts at the Library)
3: 3 miles (all ages) (starts near “Four Corners”)
5: 5 miles (all ages) (starts on Main Road @ Top of the World Road)
8: 8 miles (starts at the “Castle” gate)

The purpose of this event is to provide safe, friendly exercise for as many people as possible while raising funds to help maintain and operate our ambulance boat, Sea Stretcher. No entry fees are charged, so please obtain as many sponsors as possible.

Because of the billing costs, the minimum total amount for each sponsor is $5.00. You must PRINT the exact and complete NAME and MAILING ADDRESS for each of your sponsors.  You will not be required to collect from any of your sponsors; they will be billed soon after the marathon is completed. 

The Fishers Island Fire Department is a 501(c)(3) entity and as such, all contributions qualify as tax-deductible. No service or product will be given as a result of donations.

Be sure you know your race’s route. Maps will be available at each starting point prior to the start.

There will be a trophy presentation at the conclusion of the event. Unless requested otherwise, the names of the first place finishers in each event will be published on FishersIsland.net and Fog Horn.

Due to safety concerns, no roller blades or bicycles can be permitted.
