IN MEMORIAM: Adrienn Bakondi Smith

by Jane Ahrens

Adrienn Bakondi Smith was born in Hungary, where she completed her education before moving to England as an au pair. Her adventurous spirit eventually led her to the cruise ship industry, where she spent 11 years. During that time, she was part of the opening teams for several ships, which included Rhapsody of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, and Jewel of the Seas.

After her time at sea, Adrienn found her way to Florida, where she started in the private club industry. Her journey eventually brought her to Fishers Island, NY, where she met her husband, John Smith. Adrienn and John built a lovely life together and welcomed their daughter, Jessica Smith.

Adrienn is survived by her beloved husband, John, and her daughter, Jessica; her parents, Gyula Bakondi and Iren Bajzat; her sister, Crib Fried, and brother-in-law, Balazs Fried, along with their three sons, Bence, Andras, and Guyla Fried. She is also survived by her uncle Tomi and partner Antal; her sisters in law, Tami Smith and Heidi Elmore; her nephews, Jacob Elmore and Nathaniel Lodge; her great nieces, Lexi Stewart, Kelsey Stewart, and Abigail Elmore; and her great nephew, Jake Elmore.

Adrienn, who passed away on September 10, will be deeply missed by her family and all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

The Memorial Service will be held at Our Lady of Grace Church, Fishers Island, NY, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM. A reception will follow at the American Legion Post #1045.
