Update 4:01 PM Thursday, August 8, 2024
The Island Community Board (ICB) continues its work on behalf of the entire Fishers Island community as the central forum for the discussion and promotion of island priorities to the Town of Southold.
The ICB is made up of 6 Elected Representatives, 3 Year-Round reps and 3 Seasonal reps. Representatives serve up to 2 three-year terms. Elections are held each August.
The ICB membership* will be electing one Seasonal Representative and one Year-Round Representative for up to two consecutive three-year terms. (The By-Laws state that an individual must step down for a year after his or her second term.) Each voter will self-identify as a seasonal or year-round ICB member and vote for that candidate to represent them.
Voting is online 24/7 from Monday, August 5 until 4:00 pm on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

MEET THE CANDIDATES

Staley Sednaoui
Year-Round Representative Candidate
I am running for a second three-year term on the ICB. In my role as vice president, I have supported president John McGillian with the agendas, the minutes, and the meetings.
As a member of the ICB, I have worked with my colleagues on the issues facing our community and determining best ways to keep our residents informed and up-to-date on the issues and information.
The first three years in this position have flown by and I feel it takes a few years to understand everything and get up-to-speed. Therefore, a second three years seems logical to keep moving forward and, hopefully, make progress for Fishers Island.
Sincerely,
Staley

John McGillian
Seasonal Representative Candidate
I am finishing my three year term as a member and president of the ICB and with your support hope to be re-elected to another term.
During the past three years I have reached out to different organizations to report on their activities, goals, and concerns. I have also reached out to outside experts who have shared their knowledge of renewable energy, the potential benefits of Community Utility Cooperatives, as well as well Starlink vs. fiber optic internet solutions.
In my attempts to promote communication from island organizations and outside experts to the Island community I think the ICB has helped to inform islanders of the challenges ahead. We have also tried to encourage FIDCO and the Utility company to reach out to islanders whose knowledge and network can be used to tackle the infrastructure projects in the future.
As you know I have spent the past 20 years serving various organizations like the Conservancy, The Rec Path Foundation, FIDCO, The Fishers Island Fund, and now the ICB, and am inspired by the talent and community spirit of our island members.
I hope I have earned your trust in me to continue for another term on the ICB.
Thank you,
John
