Meeting minutes were approved at the July 11 meeting.

ICB Representatives: John McGillian (President), George de Menil (Vice President), Staley Sednaoui (Vice President), Meg Atkin (Year-Round), Richard Miller (Seasonal), Linda Mrowka (Year-Round).
• The group discussed various topics including using a new AI application for recording and transcribing minutes, introducing Maddie Lusker as the first student liaison to ICB, and Maddie’s ideas for a sand volleyball court and a foreign exchange program
• Fishers, Linda, John, and Elizabeth discussed updates on various projects on Fishers Island, including the progress of the DMV mobile unit, the Housing Advisory Community Plan, and prioritizing road and sidewalk repairs. They also discussed potential locations for a Sand Volleyball court and the logistics of maintaining it.
• During the meeting, John, Elizabeth, Donnie, and Porfirio discussed various issues related to the fire district and zoning. They talked about the transition in the fire district, the hiring of a full-time paramedic, the demand for manpower, and the reevaluation of the town’s zoning.
• The group discussed the need for “fit for duty” physicals for 41 people in the fire department, the aging of the department and the need for younger members, and the possibility of paid fire staff in the future. They also talked about the purchase of a new emergency response vehicle for advanced life support and the positive transition of Rod and his daughter to the island.
• The group discussed various topics such as the plans for the extension to the fire department, the progress of creating a junior firefighter program, and the approval of school housing for the fire department. They also talked about the importance of communication and updates to the public.
• Christian Arsenault Screenshared and gave an update on the Fishers Island School construction project, which has been delayed due to difficulty in getting estimates and high bids. The project has been narrowed down to four priorities, and they are hoping to rebid in July 2023 and start construction in November 2023.
• Elisabeth presented the Island People’s Project summer plans, which included a morning program, collaborations with island organizations, a CPR course, a parade, a house and garden tour, craft fairs, and improvements to the ball field.
• Dr. Chris Ingram announced that their office will be open for summer hours and that PT on the island will be covered by insurance and held at the community center on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Booking must go through IHP.
• During the meeting, Susie announced the launch of a new website for the Island Health Project, while Chris discussed the availability of home care services and hospice care. John mentioned the upcoming ICB voting day and the auction of the Coast Guard house and dock, while Fishers reported on an issue with insurance coverage for some residents.
