Fishers Island Non-Emergency Notification System Subscription

by Jane Ahrens

The Island Community Board has been working on the development of an island notification system that would allow non-emergency but important information to be disseminated to island residents. One Call Now is the system we have determined to best suit the island’s needs. This system allows administrators to send text messages, emails, and voice messages to registered participants from any internet connected device.

We are an isolated community subject to the whims of island weather, and we are all aware of the up-coming infrastructure work on the island in the coming years. With this system, users can be sent alerts about water and electric disruptions in real time, keeping the island informed and updated, as well as be used to alert islanders about scheduled disruptions as infrastructure work progresses. The fire department can also make use of the system to get non-emergency information out to the community. Users can be directed where to find more information, such as FishersIsland.net

We are now at the stage of establishing a database of contact information. Below you will find a link to where you can input all of your contact information. Please include the contact information for anyone in your household that would like to receive notifications, as well as your Fishers Island street address. Contacts can include cell phone numbers and email addresses – wherever you would like notifications to be sent.

We think that this could be a great resource for Fishers Island, aiding in keeping us all informed. Please help to spread the word so we can get everyone involved.

PLEASE NOTE: One Call Now is in addition to, not instead of RAVE/Smart911, the Emergency Notification system for Fishers Island utilized by our emergency services on-Island, and in Southold and Suffolk County. Find more information and subscribe to RAVE/Smart911 below:
