The election will be held as part of the General Election on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Voting on Fishers Island will be held at the Community Center, at Polling Place #1, from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
This November, for the first time in 30 years, there will be a new representative from Fishers Island on the Southold Town Council because the incumbent, Louisa Evans, is retiring from her decades of service to the town and Fishers this December. All Southold voters determine the winner of the Fishers Island seat, who works for all residents of Southold Town, with a Fishers Island perspective.
Kate and Stephanie have stepped forward to run for the seat on the Southold Town Board. You will find each candidate’s statements here:

Kate Stevens
I am running to advance shared priorities, including year-round housing, a sustainable local economy, and climate resiliency. I will work to bring town-wide resources to Fishers Island and to amplify Fishers Island initiatives with broader applications on the North Fork and beyond. I will listen, ask questions, and test alternatives to ensure the strategic planning and policy-making processes are effective and fair.
I have a lifelong connection to Fishers Island and moved here full-time in 2020. The work done by so many Islanders to support and protect this special, fragile place is truly inspiring, and I have eagerly pitched in.
I am working on building the circular economy as Chair of the Fishers Island Waste Management District: advocating for thoughtful land use, and coastal and energy resiliency on several Island committees; and supporting the preservation of Island history, land conservation, and educational programming in my new role as Executive Director of the Henry L. Ferguson Museum. More generally, my professional background in architecture and education has equipped me with strong project management, partnership building, and community engagement skills.
I humbly ask for your vote on November 4,
to ensure the voices of Fishers Islanders are heard.

I’m running for the Fishers Island Justice position because I would like the opportunity to create real, effective solutions that strengthen both Fishers Island and Southold Town as a whole. If elected, I will work to foster collaboration between Fishers Island and the broader Town of Southold so that shared ideas and experiences lead to meaningful progress. I’m hard-working, results-driven, and passionate about making a difference.
My professional experience as a clinical scientist has trained me to develop practical, evidence-based solutions, and to approach every problem with objectivity, discipline, and a commitment to facts. I will bring this mindset to the Justice position—where impartiality, careful judgment, and thoughtful action matter most.
I have been a longtime Fishers Island resident for over 30 years, raising my two sons here. An active and dedicated community volunteer, I currently serve as a Commissioner on the Fishers Island Fire District and co-chair the FI Seagrass Management Coalition. Additionally, I am treasurer of Islanders for Islanders and a parish council member of Our Lady of Grace. I am also involved with the FI Conservancy as the Director of the Sentinel Youth Program.
In this role as Southold Town Board member, I look forward to utilizing the experience and insights that I have gained while living on the island to serve a community that I care deeply about, to seek impactful solutions, and provide access to much needed services for my fellow islanders.
