It was our pleasure to host the FIFD Life Members Luncheon in their honor on Friday, May 29, 2026. They represent approximately 800+ years of service to the island as firefighters, Sea Stretcher captains, navigators, crew, and EMTs, and with their guests numbered 37 for lunch.
This was the first event as we look to celebrate the Fishers Island Fire Department’s Centennial in 2027. These members are the Department’s treasures and the best resources to help us write the fascinating history of our FIFD.
With their permission, the committee unobtrusively audio-recorded stories as the life members chatted during lunch. We loved hearing snippets and can’t wait to hear more of your stories! Memories, photos, certificates, and other documents help us begin gathering material for the upcoming FIFD Centennial book.
All were so nice to make the effort to come, taking time away from work and life, and we look forward to continuing the conversations.
