IN MEMORIAM: Eleanor Camille Bartek

Eleanor Camille Bartek of Brookline, MA passed away peacefully on April 12, 2020 at the age of 99.

Eleanor was born in Bethlehem, PA to the late John and Bessie Peishoff.  She was raised in Bethlehem, PA, and Fishers Island, NY. After graduating from Fishers Island High School, she then continued her education at Bethlehem Business College.

Eleanor met and married her husband, Edward Bartek, in Bethlehem, PA.  She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed raising her family in Mountain Lakes, NJ and spending summers on beautiful Fishers Island with friends and relatives. Eleanor loved retirement with her husband, Edward in Guilford, CT where they spent time gardening, cooking, entertaining and also loved traveling and boating with close friends.  Eleanor enjoyed working in her garden and was a long-time member of the Guilford Garden Club, actively planting and maintaining beautiful gardens around the town.  She took pleasure in nature, enjoying walks around town and beachcombing at local beaches.

Eleanor was the beloved wife of the late Edward Bartek. She was a loving mother and is survived by Susan Bartek of Brookline, MA, Jean Bartek-Fava and her husband Gabe of Gloucester, MA and Jim Bartek and his wife Patti of North Haven, CT.; Grandmother of Nicholas Fava and partner Heather Sances, Michael Fava and partner Sara Carbone, Anna Vitale and husband Louis Vitale, and Jeff Bartek and partner Bianca Rapuano; Great Grandmother of Giuliana Camille Vitale.  Eleanor was predeceased by a sister, Rosa Peishoff and three brothers, John Peishoff, Daniel Peishoff and James Peishoff.  She is survived by a sister-in-law, Betty Peishoff and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held for Eleanor Bartek on Tuesday, July 27 at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Grace Church. Burial on Fishers Island will be private.

Our Lady of Grace Church requires masks and recommends social distancing.
