This two-part course includes an American Heart Association 1) online session and 2) an in-person skills session with Fishers Island’s own Jessica Hall, an English teacher at the Fishers Island School and EMT for the Fishers Island Fire Department; Jess is an AHA certified CPR instructor.

This course is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs first aid and/or CPR training and a course completion card for job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements such as childcare workers, teachers, and camp counselors. It is also ideal for parents, grandparents, and babysitters or anyone involved in childcare who might need to respond to illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives.

The eLearning portion of the Heartsaver® Total First Aid CPR AED blended learning course is designed to teach students the cognitive information needed for adult and pediatric first aid, CPR, and AED training. Upon completion of the online portion, students must complete a hands-on skills session, which includes basic first aid training and involves medical, injury, and environmental emergencies, controlling bleeding and bandaging, choking, and CPR with the use of an AED.
