Lance Elwell, born Bath, England, December 20th, 1938, died on Fishers Island, NY, April 11th, 2025.
Lance worked for a number of years as a teacher and artist-in-residence at Storm King School before coming to Fishers Island to join Peter Sanger and Chip Dupont at Pirates Cove Marine. After surviving 18 hours adrift in Long Island Sound during the Blizzard of ’78, he went on to marry Sarah Russell and start Spring Farm Services in Hadlyme, CT in 1979.
He is survived by Sarah, his daughters from his first marriage, Kari Brooke Elwell and Karena Elwell Rasser and his grandchildren Conrad Elwell Katzander, Haley Rasser and Lily Rasser.
