November 20, 2025

Dear Fishers Island School Community,

It is with appreciation and gratitude that we announce the upcoming retirement of PreK teacher, Ms. Meg Atkin. The Fishers Island Board of Education approved Meg’s retirement, effective December 30, 2025, at their Board Meeting last night.

Meg’s 17 years of dedication to the children and families of Fishers Island have been impactful. She has left a positive imprint on the children of our community, and we are grateful for her service.

We are excited for Meg as she embarks on this new chapter filled with well-earned rest, new adventures, and quality time with family and friends. Meg is not leaving Fishers right away – she will be here at least through July.

The process to find a replacement teacher for the PreK classroom is currently underway. We will communicate when these plans are finalized.  There will be no disruptions to our students’ learning during the transition.

Please join us in sharing our well-wishes and thanks to Meg.

With appreciation,

Christian
