FIFD & FIC Prescribed Burn at Parade Grounds

The annual prescribed burn of the Parade Grounds is on Wednesday, April 1st at 4:00 PM,and Wednesday, April 8 at 4:30 PM  led by Chris Aiello in coordination with the NYS Forest Rangers.

This controlled burn is an important land management practice that helps maintain healthy grassland habitat and supports native plant communities.

All prescribed burns are conducted under strict safety guidelines and require an approved permit. While New York State enforces a residential brush burning ban from March 16 through May 14, this project is permitted and professionally managed, allowing it to take place during that time.

The burn is weather-dependent and will only proceed if conditions are suitable. Residents may notice smoke in the area during the burn.
