The Theater will screen Take Back the Harbor on July 14, 2019.

A wine reception will precede the 5:00 screening of Take Back the Harbor. The documentary will be followed by a Q and A with Pete Malinowski, Director of the Billion Oyster Project.

This is a joint venture of the FI Conservancy and FFIT (Friends of the Fishers Island Theater).

Emmy-award-winning filmmakers Kristi Jacobson & Roger Ross Williams have spent more than a year behind the scenes with Harbor School students. Now the world premiere of Take Back the Harbor, from Discovery and Motto Pictures, aired Tuesday, December 18 on Discovery [try Channel 278]!

The documentary was streamed live on Discovery and in HD at the Fishers Island Community Center on the big screen.

Watch as these young stewards dive deep to restore oyster reefs to NY Harbor, a waterway that was once one of the world’s most dynamic ecosystems.

“We can all find inspiration and empowerment from this film: when we come together, regardless of age, neighborhood allegiances, or where we stand on the political spectrum, we can establish sustainable solutions that benefit everyone.” – Directors Kristi Jacobson and Roger Ross Williams

From the Discovery Channel Press Release, “As the students – go to Fishers Island, get their hands dirty, grow oysters, conduct diving expeditions and learn to operate boats – we see just how difficult it is to build a movement intent on saving New York’s Harbor.” READ PRESS RELEASE
