Thank you from Islanders for Islanders

September 17, 2019

Islanders for Islanders, a collaboration of all four Fishers Island churches, wishes to offer our deep thanks to all our donors this year. Your support once again enables us to fulfill our aims to sustain community life here on Fishers all year, and also to plan future programs we believe will sustain and enrich life, particularly in the winter months.

Priorities for us include addressing food insecurity, offering financial support for mental health services, a source of emergency assistance, and in particular, small grants for residents seeking training or licensing in order to increase career options. Islanders for Islanders is pleased to also be able to provide other avenues of support for individuals, families, and community life.

This summer, Islanders for Islanders funded a boardwalk at South Beach from the parking lot to the bonfire area, with comfortable benches for seating. We are delighted to see these in use by Islanders and visitors so that the beach can be fully enjoyed. (These structures, created by Jared Toldo, are temporary and will be put in use during the season each year.)

Islanders for Islanders is funded completely by donations and fueled by the prayers and good wishes of all Islanders. Again, thank you!  Please stay tuned for other initiatives in process, and feel free to suggest new programs. All help is provided in strict confidence. For further information, contact Rev. Candace Whitman at Union Chapel (203/293-5470 or candace.whitman@ptsem.edu). Tax-deductible donations may be made by check to Union Chapel with “Islanders for Islanders” in the memo line (PO Box 192, Fishers Island, NY  06390).
