Place of Issue: Freeport, Maine
55¢, forever stamp

Dear Postal Customers,

Welcome to Fishers Island’s Postal Blog. Once a month I’d like to share with you my passion – all things postal – such as helpful tips and hints to make your mailing and shipping a bit easier.

So, for December, we will discuss deadlines for timely mailings.

For the Holidays:
Smaller parcels and cards should be sent 1st class by December 20th.

Parcels over 4 lbs. can be sent retail ground but will need 7-10 days, so plan please accordingly.

The best value for heavy parcels going farther is
PRIORITY FLAT RATE BOXES & ENVELOPES

You can get these boxes and envelopes (free of charge) online at USPS.COM or at the local Post Office. These will need to be sent on or before December 21st with 2-3 day delivery, anywhere in the US with tracking and up to $50.00 insurance.

Ok for the laggards (and you know who you are), there is
PRIORITY MAIL EXPRESS BOXES & ENVELOPES

This mail can be sent with 1-2 days delivery if mailed by December 23rd. It is the only guaranteed mail we offer, has tracking and is insured up to $100.00.

The Post Office has beautiful holiday and winter-themed FOREVER Stamps for all your cards and letters as well.
