Job Posting: FI School seeks Long Term Elementary Sub

Fishers Island School is currently seeking a long-term substitute grades K-2 elementary teacher (1.0 FTE) to join our school community effective approximately March 14, 2021 until June 30, 2021. This long-term substitute position is for the 2020-2021 school year only.

Fishers Island School is a Prek-12 public school that educates resident students of Fishers Island as well as commuting students of Eastern Connecticut. Accessible via the Fishers Island Ferry from New London, CT or charter vessel from Noank, CT, our one-school building instructs approximately 70 students annually with a faculty and staff of approximately 25 members.

Responsibilities include teaching an elementary course load as assigned by the school principal (consistent with the Fishers Island Teachers Association Collective Bargaining Agreement).

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma Required
  • NYS Elementary Education Certification preferred.
  • A minimum 2 years of experience working with children.
  • Proficient with technology, including Smartboard application and knowledge of theGoogle platform.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
