Fishers Island Union Chapel Services

Looking ahead to summer at Union Chapel

As Candy and the leadership at Union Chapel consider summer options, our first priority is the health and safety of our faith community and the Island. We pray all our church family and friends are well and taking all due precautions. Right now this virus is still confounding medical experts, and so we are carefully monitoring the situation and will be making decisions about gathering for worship based on state mandates and Island protocols. Developments will be posted on and so please check back as summer approaches. In the meantime, join us on Zoom Sunday mornings – just call the church to get on the invite list!

God be with you.

July begins and our array of summer offerings for spiritual growth are underway!  All are welcome at any of these offerings.

Bulletin for July 19

A Season for Spirituality” contemplative program will be sent via email this weekend to all those who are interested in exploring discipleship more fully in this quieter summer. This is a three-week self-directed program of daily reflections and exercises beginning July 6 designed to deepen our connection to creation as Christians. Please register for the program at  There is no fee, but answering the brief form is appreciated and will provide your email for correspondence.

St. John’s Book Group from Michael Spencer:  Book Group will meet virtually via Zoom beginning on Friday, July 10 at 11:00 a.m.  This summer we will be reading Listening for God, volume III, edited by Paula Carlson and Peter Hawkins.  You may order your own copy via amazon at the following link:

This collection of short stories in American literature explores the intersection between current culture, the life of faith, theology and the call of discipleship. Reading 1-2 selections each week will provide a manageable, contained opportunity for reflection. A limited number of copies will also be available at the Rectory beginning on July 3.

We extend the peace and healing presence of God to all our friends at this difficult time. Please be in touch should you need help with any pastoral or practical needs.

The church is suspending all in-person services and meetings until further notice.

Grace and peace,

Rev. Candace Whitman
