First Responder Training for Animal Rescue Team

Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 1:00 – 3:00
Fishers Island Community Center’s Multi-purpose Room

Join trainer Janelle Schuh from the Mystic Aquarium to get oriented to the Aquarium and its Stranding Program, then get fully trained to join the Animal Rescue Team. First Responders are typically the first set of eyes and ears in the field assessing reports of stranded marine mammals and sea turtles. Especially on Fishers, where it could take up to 24 hours for Aquarium experts to respond, it is critical to have a network of First Responders who can monitor the situation. Any community member 18 years or older is welcome to join this FREE training. Decide at the end of the class whether the team is for you!

Please visit the Mystic Aquarium website and select “Conservation Impact” at the top of the page. Then select “Animal Rescue.” Pan to the bottom of the page where you will then find brief information and a link for the classes offered this fall. Select the “Dates & Registration” button.  This will take you to the registration site. You must register through the website to reserve your space in the class (please do not email).

You may also visit the link here for a direct connection to the registration page.

Finally, if you need to cancel your registration please call 860-572-5955 x520. This is very important.  We need an accurate count of who we should be expecting, please contact x520 if you will no longer be attending. Consider that for some of these classes we are taking ferry rides, therefore our preference is to know if the class will be well attended in advance.  Thanks for your attention to this.
