Fire District Commissioner Election

ANNUAL ELECTION OF

FISHERS ISLAND FIRE DISTRICT

DECEMBER 8, 2020

            PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Annual Election of the Fishers Island Fire District will take place on December 8, 2020 between the hours of 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM at the Fishers Island Community Center located at 66 Hound Lane, Fishers Island, New York for the purpose of electing one Commissioner for a five (5) year term commencing on January 1, 2021 and ending on December 31, 2025.

Candidates for the District Office of Commissioner shall file a petition signed by at least twenty-five (25) registered voters of the Fire District, which petition must be filed with the Secretary of the Fire District no later than November 18, 2020.  Petition forms may be obtained by emailing the Fire District Secretary at fifiredsitrict@fishersisland.net.

All residents of the Fire District duly registered with the Suffolk County Board of Elections as of November 16, 2020 shall be eligible to vote.

Absentee ballots, where voters will be unable to attend for reasons of health or other reasons permitted by law, may be obtained by emailing the Fire District Secretary at fifiredsitrict@fishersisland.net.  If the ballot is to be mailed rather than picked up, the application must be received no later than 5:00 PM on December 1, 2020.  If the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter or his or her agent the application must be received no later than 5:00 PM on December 7, 2020.

Please be advised that the Board of Elections of the Fire District shall meet on December 1, 2020 at 5:00 PM at the firehouse for the purpose of preparing the rolls of the registered voters of the Fire District.
