FICC’s October Happenings

Learn to play Mah Jongg
We’ll keep playing as long as people are here!

Learn to play Pickleball on the Tennis Courts
A fast growing sport, Pickleball was invented on Bainbridge Island in 1965. It is a combination of tennis, ping pong and badminton. It’s played on a smaller court, which is marked by yellow lines on our tennis court. The ball is like a hard whiffle ball and the racquets are similar to a ping pong paddle but a little larger. Pickleball is easier on the body than tennis because there’s more forward and back movement rather than side-to-side movement. It’s easy to learn and it’s easy to become good at it very quickly. It’s fun, social, quick, and competitive.

Dave Dennison is here until mid-October and happy to give lessons. John Pierce is also here and happy to help people get started.
If you are interested in learning to play or being part of a group that plays, please contact us and we’ll get a list together of Pickleball players!

Classic Movies Continue on Thursdays at 7:00 PM.

Croquet at the Baseball Field
Croquet has come to Fishers Island! Let’s enjoy it while the weather holds up. Thanks to Tom McCance, who has donated a magnificent croquet set, and Tommy Doyen, who is the overseer of the Ball Field, we can play croquet at the Baseball Field!
The croquet set will live at the Community Center, so players will be able to come “sign out” the set and take it over to the Ball Field to play. We will also have copies of the rules of “Golf Croquet” printed out and laminated for players to borrow if they wish.

Yes! I was to sign up for Zentangle!
