FIS Forum: COVID-19 updated Guidelines
January 26 @ 4:30 pm
January 25, 2022
Dear Fishers Island Community:
I hope that this finds you well. On Wednesday, January 19, 2022, the Fishers Island Board of Education officially adopted an update to our COVID-19 Reopenign Guidelines. The updated FIS COVID-19 Reopening Guidelines and “Quarantine/Isolation Reference Chart” have are attached to this notice for convenience and clarity.
I will be holding a special Community Forum on Wednesday, January 26th, to review these updated guidelines and answer any questions you have. The zoom meeting will begin at 4:30 pm and be accessed through the link below:
The updated guidelines affirm a recommitment to the majority of the mitigation measures that have been in place since the start of the pandemic. However, we have updated our policies on quarantine and isolation to better align with the recommendations provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the New York State Department of Education.
In conjunction with our updated Quarantine and Isolation policies, we encourage families to submit a copy of their student’s COVID-19 Vaccination Record to be kept in their school medical file. Providing the school with this information is optional but will help us to more efficiently determine quarantine and isolation status for future COVID-19 exposures. Please email a copy of your child’s COVID-19 Vaccination card to Aly Horn (a.horn@fischool) if you would like to update your student’s medical file.
We will continue to prioritize the health and safety of our students, staff, and community above all else. While we still have a long way to go, we are proud of the work that we have collectively done to ensure that our students continue to grow academically and socially throughout these unprecedented times.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
In your service,
Fishers Island School
