The Fishers Island Fire District is in search of immediate housing for our Fire District’s manager and Island’s paramedic.
Rod Rodriguez and his daughter Dallas arrived on the island in the fall of 2022. His contract has since been renewed. His residence to date has been in Fishers Island School District housing. This residence becomes unavailable, possibly as early as December, as a new faculty member will be residing there.
A critical member of the emergency services on Fishers, Rod is also a very valuable asset to our fire district and to the fire department. He not only manages all the district’s details, facilities, and equipment, he is our only island paramedic, a firefighter 2, and the certified trainer for the EMTs and firefighters. He runs all the drills, oversees Sunday duty, and is on call, along with the rest of the members of the department. As a Fishers Island School parent, he volunteers in school activities, cheers on the Viking teams, and is a DJ when called on for special events. Dallas, a senior at Fishers Island School, came to Fishers as a freshman. A member of the school band and chorus, she is also a student leader on the girls’ basketball team and is the newly elected captain of the junior FIFD firefighters. You might have met her this summer at one of her two jobs, Toppers and Food Arts Cafe.
The Fire District is seeking a two-bedroom home for the Rodriguez family. Occupancy is needed ASAP for the school year or longer if possible. Short term is welcome and a year’s lease is preferable. All options will be considered. References are available upon request.
Please contact Tom Cashel, Chair, Fishers Island Fire District Board of Commissioners with any questions and suggestions. Call or email him at TCashel@fishersislandfd.com, or contact Rod Rodriguez at the Fire District (631) 788-7019 or RRodriguez@fishersislandfd.com.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
