FICC Classic Movie Night: Titanic (1953)

  • Admission is by donation. Microwave popcorn, soda, and water will be available, also by donation.

Each film will be introduced by David Hoch, a retired English professor who has taught several different film courses.

Thursday, June 1- Titanic (1953)- drama, 98 min. Not the Dicaprio-Winslet film!

     Clifton Webb, Barbara Stanwyck, Robert Wagner, Richard Basehart, Thelma Ritter.

Oscar winner for script, this early version of the sea tragedy centers on a shipboard story.


Thursday, June 8- Ride the High Country (1962)- western, 94 min.

     Joel McCrea, Randolph Scott, Mariette Hartley, Warren Oates, Directed by Sam Peckinpah.

Two aged gunfighters reflect on their pasts while guarding a gold shipment. One of the best westerns!


Thursday, June 15- Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte (1964)- suspense, 133 min.

     Bette Davis, Olivia de Haviland, Joseph Cotton, Agnes Morehead, Directed by Robert Aldrich.

Charlotte is tormented by a past murder in this story of a southern family with skeletons in the closet.


Thursday, June 22- Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison (1957)- comedy/drama, 107 min.

     Deborah Kerr, Robert Mitchum, Directed by John Huston.

Touching tale of nun Kerr and Marine Mitchum stranded together on small Pacific island during WWII.


Thursday, June 29- Objective Burma (1945)- war drama, 142 min.

     Errol Flynn, William Prince, Henry Hull, George Tobias, James Brown, Directed by Raoul Walsh.

Zestful WWII action film as paratroopers attempt to wipe out important Japanese post. Flynn at the top of his game, memorable Franz Waxman score; one of the best WWII films.
