Warning: New USPS Scam

by Jane Ahrens

Several USPS customers have come in asking if they have a parcel here at the Post Office because they got a text message saying a parcel has arrived and will be returned if they “don’t pick it up or click on the link for the tracking number”.

DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK OR TAKE ACTION!
JUST TAKE A SCREENSHOT/PHOTO AND DELETE THE MESSAGE!

These customers do not recall ordering this item and you guessed, it’s a scam – we don’t have these parcels.

We all need to be diligent in keeping the tracking numbers given out at the office and a list of the items we know we did order and where they are with your online accounts. This is very serious and dangerous.

Please call us or ask us for any help BEFORE reacting to these scams online.

To learn more about this, report an incident, and what you can (or must not) do, please visit this USPIS (US Postal Inspection Service) link: https://www.uspis.gov/news/scam-article/smishing-package-tracking-text-scams
