The Babbling Brook Naked Poker Club, Book One by Ann Warner
Date: Wednesday, April 19
Time: 5:30 pm
Recommended by Diane Dexter
Location: Library
Diane Dexter suggested this first book in a cozy mystery series that takes place in a retirement home. Despite the name, Diane assured us it’s not as racy as it sounds! Featuring the multi-faceted Josephine Bartlett as the protagonist, this book sounds entertaining and fun to read! The library will have copies if anyone needs one.
Diane also highly recommends two other first books in a series: IN THE BLEAK MIDWINTER by Julia Spencer-Fleming and AT HOME IN MITFORD by Jan Karon. So if we like them we go on and read the rest of the books.

The Naked Poker Club books are heart-warming, delightful, and funny.
“In Book One of this cozy mystery series, a morose parrot with a reputation for biting sums up Brookside Retirement Community for reluctant resident, Josephine Bartlett. But when Brookside turns out to be a setting for art theft, dodgy dealings, and…naked poker it becomes vastly more interesting. Josephine investigates the unusual goings on with friend and handwriting expert, Lill. And the two befriend a young woman Josephine tries to prevent from making the same mistakes she has made.” ~ Amazon
The library will order copies for us and I know some of you will listen to them but a few of us already have copies so ask around if you’re looking for one. As always, I look forward to our next meeting and to reading these next few books. So many books, never enough time…
Let me know if you have any questions and enjoy this overcast weather which is perfect for curling up next to a fire and reading a good book.
Best,
Abby

Library Book Club selections:
Please email Abby McCall at abimccall@gmail.com with any questions or to be added to the Book Club email list.
For those of you who prefer e-books please avail yourselves of the Library’s app on their website.
Please invite friends who might also be interested. The more readers the better and so many people are unable to join on any given night that I don’t think we can have too many people. There are lots of book lovers on the island and it’s really nice to bring the group together. Please feel free to forward this to anyone else you can think of. All are welcome.
We generally select the book for the following month at the preceding meeting. Feel free to BYOBeverage and a snack to share if you like
