Dear Members of the Fishers Island Community,
I once read that “Gratitude can transform common days into Thanksgiving.” This is so applicable to the generosity you have demonstrated in your support of L&M’s Emergency Department.
The accompanying video is a first-hand account of the impact your philanthropy has had in the daily lives of patients and clinicians.
Thank you for allowing us to celebrate Thanksgiving every day.

Please join us in supporting the renovation of Lawrence + Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department. We believe this is a very important cause for the health and sustainability of the Fishers Island Community.
Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, part of Yale New Haven Health since 2017, is an integral provider of health care services for Fishers Island. Through its partnership with the Island Health Project, the Fishers Island Fire Department and Sea Stretcher, L+M is the primary destination for emergencies and critical care needs for the Island’s year-round and summer residents.
The expansion is part of an $84 million upgrade of L&M primarily funded by Yale New Haven Health. The expansion of the Emergency Department will entail nearly doubling the number of treatment rooms from 37 to 57, having all the treatment rooms be enclosed and private, adding a pediatric unit, a psychiatric unit and isolation facilities. It also involves expanding and improving the waiting room area and upgrading all equipment.
The Fishers Island Campaign for L+M Emergency Department is targeting $5 million to help with the enhancements of the facilities, which have not been upgraded since 1995. The Crisp family has spearheaded this effort with a $2 million matching grant to seed our collective efforts. Reaching our goal of $5 million will allow us to name the new Emergency Room and recognize Fishers Island’s commitment to L&M.
Please join us in supporting this essential project. We are close to reaching our goal and hope to have broad participation from the whole Island community to get there in the coming weeks. If you have given already, we greatly appreciate your generous support. Below is information about the campaign and we are happy to answer any questions you may have.
