Nature Days this Saturday!

Hi FIConservancy Community,

Come explore expert-led stations with fun activities for all ages at Nature Days this Saturday, August 6th, 3-5pm at the Parade Grounds.

  • Start at The John Thatcher Native Garden next to the movie theater, where you can enjoy face painting while learning about invasive plants and how to control them from Dianne Crary and Courtney MacDonald.
  • Move into the Parade Grounds, where you will delight in seeing live animals from the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center.
  • Check out the marine debris station organized by FIConservancy Marine Debris Coordinator, Michele Klimczak, where you’ll marvel at unique displays and can join in “fishing” games and create a balloon “ocean creature” with Nate Chaves.
  • Make sure to grab a free frozen treat from the ice cream truck to cool off!
  • Finally, pop into the Fishers Island Theater to see a looping short film, featuring Michele Klimczak, about fishing lures created (and used!) from marine debris by artist and former Lighthouse Works fellow, Duke Riley.

See you Saturday!
