Blood Drive on Fishers Island a Success

by Jane Ahrens

Thank you to everyone who helped with the Blood Drive!

It takes an Island!

42 people presented and 35 donor units were collected. Each pint helps an average of 3 people so that is 105 lives touched.

This was made possible because of all of you who helped in so many different ways ~ transporters, volunteers, lunch makers, venue hosts, donors and supporters, and of course the CT Blood Center team for making the trip to Fishers!

The CTBC staff LOVED lunch and meeting everyone. Some have already made plans for day trips and it sounds like they will definitely be coming again for another Blood Drive!

They so very much appreciated all the volunteers who helped in so many ways!

I thank you all.

Most Sincerely,
Jane

CTBC operates a hospital services blood storage depot from our Connecticut center so we can quickly and reliably get urgent or unexpected orders to local hospitals. CTBC is operated by the Rhode Island Blood Center, a part of the New York Blood Center Enterprises family with more than five decades of experience saving lives by ensuring a safe and plentiful blood supply to the patients and hospitals we serve. CTBC is also part of the National Marrow Donor Program, registering individuals throughout New England to become lifesaving stem cell donors for patients who need a transplant to survive.

*What is a Phlebotomist? Phlebotomists, or phlebotomy technicians, are health care professionals who collect blood samples from patients for tests, transfusions, or donations.
