Photos Wanted for 2022 Museum Exhibits Year Round and Winter

The HLF Museum is looking for images to include in its 2022 exhibitions: Year Round and Winter.

The Museum is asking all Fishers Islanders for help gathering photos for possible inclusion in its 2022 annual exhibition entitled Year Round: A Celebration of Community, as well as the complementary special exhibition entitled Winter which will be on display on the Second Floor.

The main show will chronicle many aspects of the Island’s year-round community with a focus on work, school activities, recreation, and annual events that help bring the Island together.

The list of desired images includes:

  • Easter egg hunts
  • Sunrise services
  • Memorial Day ceremonies
  • July 4th parades
  • Fire Department institutional and social gatherings
  • Beer Fests
  • Sea Stretcher Marathon
  • Fishers Island School plays
  • Spring and winter concerts
  • Senior lunches
  • Sports contests (especially wanted: basketball games in the old gymnasium)
  • School graduation
  • Halloween costumes and parades
  • Christmas parties
  • Winter hunting
  • Winter recreation (including: Ice skating, Ice fishing on ponds, Cross-country skiing, Sledding, Snow forts, Snowmen, and snow sculptures)

The main exhibition’s work-related imagery will cover a range of island institutions and businesses over the past century and will include portraits of many island residents taken by island photographers.

The complementary Winter show will focus on artistic photos that portray the many facets of the island in the grip of snow and ice. Of particular interest are images that show very familiar locations and scenic vistas that have been transformed and reshaped by winter weather.

Year Round: A Celebration of Community and Winter
are scheduled to open Saturday, June 25th 2022
