Paid for by a FEMA $125k grant from 2014’ s hurricane Sandy.
Work is projected to take 1 month concluding in March.

The Project consists of the Reconstruction of Riprap Armoring along the shoreline adjacent to Runways 7 and 30 and the Block Island Sound at the Elizabeth Field Airport.

Sealed Bids for the reconstruction of Shoreline Protection Measures at Elizabeth Field Airport were received by the Fishers Island Ferry District on behalf of the Town of Southold on Thursday, April 29, 2021.

Work has begun to restore the bulkheads to their original strength and height after years of pounding by the ocean’s best efforts. This will protect the runways for the future.
