Cheryl A. Scroxton, 65, of Fishers Island, N.Y., passed away quietly early Thursday Oct. 14, 2021, with her husband of 47 years by her side. Cheryl was born Oct. 19, 1955, the daughter of the late Maurice N. Doucette and Alice Cote Doucette from Bangor, Maine.
She was a graduate of Fishers Island Union Free School, where she met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Edward Scroxton, who therefore were married June 30, 1974.
Cheryl loved her home and flower yard. She was a quiet individual who loved to stay home to take care of her family. She was also an avid book reader, loved her music, dancing and especially loved the holidays, having big meals and family gatherings.
Cheryl worked at the local Fishers Island Village Market as a cashier and at the lunch counter, where she took care of the work crews that commuted to F.I. for work. She was known as “Même or Mémé” to many, but more so by her grandbabies.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, of 47 years, Edward Scroxton; her three children, Jessica Lynn, Allison Faith and Derek Scroxton, who is married to Darcy Shultzman. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Bee and Kloe; as well as survived by her two brothers, Maurice N. Doucette Jr. and Andrew Doucette. She was predeceased by Wayne Doucette.
The service will be at the Union Chapel on Nov 13th at 1pm with a gathering at the Legion afterwords. Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London, is assisting with the arrangements.
