“Most everything can now be done online except for new licenses (REAL ID, enhanced licenses, new NYS drivers licenses, etc.) and road tests. Jodi Giglio’s office would like islanders to let them know what transactions people out here are looking to do at the DMV in order to better address the needs.
It will help the cause of getting DMV back to FI to have lots of people email their needs to her office, particularly ones that are supposed to be done in person.”, added Louisa Evans

New York State Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio (R, C, I-Riverhead) and her staff are pleased to announce that they are working to assist the residents of Fishers Island in the town of Southold with their ongoing DMV struggles. Giglio is working closely with state DMV Commissioner Mark Schroeder to help the people of Fishers Island meet their needs.
“Any time I can assist my constituents cut through red tape, I am always eager to help,” Giglio said. “The residents of Fishers Island are currently forced through an almost entire day of travel by two ferries and a car ride to reach their DMV, which can be frustrating in the best of times.
If you have a matter for which you need to appear in person at the DMV, please contact the District Office before Wednesday, August 18, 2021. We are compiling a list of your needs for the Commissioner so we can arrange to best serve the residents of Fisher Island.
Please provide the following information so we can best serve you:
- Phone Number
- Email Address
- Which DMV Transaction you are trying to execute*
DO YOU HAVE AN UPCOMING TRANSACTION
NEEDED AT THE NEW YORK DMV?
*The following are several of the DMV transactions that must be accomplished in person. It will really help Fishers Island’s case if everyone can share their needs ASAP, and by Monday, August 16, with Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio’s office. No guarantees that all can be accommodated without a DMV visit, but very helpful for the office to know Fishers Islanders’ needs.
