President Biden yesterday (6/10) delivered remarks on the Covid vaccination program and the effort to defeat the virus globally, here are a few items:

  • 64% of American adults aged 18 years and older have received at least one shot of vaccine.
  • US will purchase from Pfizer 500 million additional doses to provide to COVAX (part of WHO)
  • These vaccines will be donated to 100 nations.
  • Pfizer will ship 200 million doses by the end of 2021 and the remaining 300 million doses shipped by the end of the first half of 2022.

Governor Cuomo yesterday (6/10) announced applications are now open for the $800 million Covid Pandemic Small Business Recovery Grant Program. The program reimburses New York small businesses with grants of up to $50,000 for Covid-related expenses incurred between 3/1/2020 and 4/1/2021. Grants will be awarded to small and micro businesses and small for-profit independent arts and cultural organizations, with priority being given to socially and economically disadvantaged business owners, including minority- and women-owned business enterprises, service-disabled veteran-owned businesses and veteran-owned businesses, and businesses located in economically distressed communities.

Governor Cuomo on Monday (6/7) announced the followings:

  • NY State will close vaccination sites to focus on areas with low vaccination rates. State analyzed rates by zip codes, bottom 10% of zip codes are below the 36.3% vaccination rate (these areas are 1⁄2 the State rate of 68%). The Governor stated that local health departments re-deploy resources to increase vaccinations in these areas.
  • Schools mask policy: NYS will align the mask mandate for outdoor school activities with the CDC guidance established for summer camps. Therefore, in NYS no mask mandate for school outdoors activities is necessary (this is at the discretion of the local school district).
