Doorways of Fishers Island Quilt by Laura Edwards

John Klimczak and Thad Bereday at the Quilt Raffle drawing.

Laura Edwards designed, created, and stitched this beautiful “Doorways of Fishers Island” quilt which she completed in 2020 as a raffle fundraiser with the proceeds going to Union Chapel. The drawing took place on Sunday, June 5 after the church service.

Congratulations to Laura’s son-in-law Joseph Murphy!

Laura is so appreciated at Union Chapel and not only for her generous quilt-making and other needle craft works for auctions. She is a former Deacon and served as head Deacon for many years, organizing church fairs, and teaching Sunday School and Wednesday School to the Island children. She was instrumental with costumes for cabarets and pageants and helping with the community ladies’ monthly luncheons. One of the quilts she taught with was a community effort of squares and is hanging in the Fishers Island Community Center. A volunteer extraordinaire!

Another beautiful quilt by Laura Edwards with a tiny bit of help from some friends.

Thank you again to Laura for all her good work! Sending best wishes to her from everyone here!
