Job Posting: FI School seeks Spanish Teacher

Fishers Island School is currently seeking a certified grade 7-12 Spanish Teacher (1.0 FTE) to join our school community effective July 1, 2021.

Fishers Island School is a Prek-12 public school that educates resident students of Fishers Island as well as commuting students of Eastern Connecticut. Accessible via the Fishers Island Ferry from New London, CT or charter vessel from Noank, CT, our one-school building instructs approximately 70 students annually with a faculty and staff of approximately 25 members.

Responsibilities include teaching a course load consistent with the Fishers Island Teachers Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.


NYS Teaching Certification in Spanish 7-12 (or certification in another state with the ability to immediately begin working on a NYS Teaching Certification).
Native or native-like fluency in Spanish.

  • A minimum 2 years of relevant teaching experience preferred.
  • Ability to teach all levels of Spanish through level V.
  • Proficient with technology, including Smartboard application and knowledge of the Google platform.
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
