Senior Lunch 2020-2021 Pivoted

“Our Annual Holiday Senior Lunch looked different this year, but we were grateful to be able to have pulled it off with the help of our “holiday elves.”

“Traditionally, our monthly Senior Lunches are great gatherings of islanders 60 and over for a delicious meal prepared by an island chef and often some outside speaker or entertainment.  2020 obviously changed all that, but we wanted to still deliver some holiday cheer. On Monday, December 14, we delivered 56 meals to 35 houses.  It truly was a group effort.”

Thanks to all the folks who made it happen.

The chefs for the meals: Joe Brock, Gail Cypherd, Amy Harris, and Karla Heath. For the soups:  Sue Lusker and Robin Toldo. For the Christmas cookies: Karen Simoncini. For the Holiday goodies: Ann Banks, Patty Faulkner, and Ellen Pickett.  For the delivery: Gail Cypherd and Michel Klimczak. And, many thanks to Heather Burnham for coordinating this pivotal effort for the 2020 holidays!

We hope to do another delivery in early February.  If you are on island and would like to be added to our list please email Heather Burnham –

What is Senior Lunch all About – when it is not a pandemic?

Enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal, monthly door prize/raffle, seasonal table settings, and interesting conversation. The Senior Luncheons are held on the third Thursday of the month from October through May – most are held at the Union Chapel unless otherwise noted.

And, what is a senior at the Senior Lunch? Anyone age 60+

The Senior Lunch Committee is always looking for volunteer chefs and entertainment ideas. Island organizations are invited to host. Guest speakers are most welcome. Let us know if you want to get involved for next season. To volunteer to cater the meal one month, help serve, or ask questions, just call or email Heather Burnham at (860) 617-3264 or
