PRESS RELEASE
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident which occurred on August 31, 2019, at approximately 3:11 am on Fishers Island, Town of Southold, Suffolk County. Troopers responded to East End Drive on Fishers Island and located Kevin Brown, 27, of Baltic, CT who had sustained significant head trauma after falling from the trunk of a 2011 Hyundai Genesis. The victim was transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London, CT where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver and the vehicle involved were located on Fishers Island and an active investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident are ongoing at this time. At the present time, no criminal charges have been filed while the incident is further investigated.

As of the week of September 23, 2019, and according to Fishers Island State Trooper contact at the NY State Police office, the matter is still under investigation. Pending receipt of the final autopsy report and other final reports from the scene, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office will render a final report. Sometimes this takes as long as 8-10 months.
