Fishers Island Yacht Club’s team “Norwegian Wood” with John Burnham, Peter Rugg, Charlton Rugg, Beth Sholle, Jenifer Parsons and Reed Baer have won the 2019 IOD World Championship in Marblehead, MA
After a long week of postponements, heavy fog, and fickle winds, the 2019 International One Design World Championships is in the books. FIYC had two teams representing with the other team being the defending 2018 World Champions team “Zallee” Jonathan Farrar, Isabelle Farrar, Michael McNamara, Kevin Wypychoski and Kevin Gilman. Team “Zallee” has won 3 of the last 5 World Championships.
Team “Norwegian Wood” with John Burnham at the helm also won the I.O.D. World championships in 1994 and 1996. We are all very proud of both teams representing F.I.Y.C. so well in this high profile international championships year after year.
