OLOG Mass: A night for the history books

by Jane Ahrens

The Mass at Our Lady of Grace Church on Fishers Island was a bit more special than usual on Saturday evening, February 10, 2018.

Father Henry was presiding in the beautiful albeit brisk sanctuary. He was joined at the altar by five guests that accompanied him on his weekly ferry ride to the Island. These gentlemen are priests and seminary students.

“With six priests – 2 from China, 2 from Vietnam, 1 from the Dominican Republic, and 1 from Africa – we were surrounded by Holy Men who repeated incessantly that their kingdom is not of this world, and yet they unanimously shared if it were, then they’d like to be kings of Fishers Island because of its serenity, beauty, and people”. ~ Robert Hoey
