Fishers Island School’s Art Classes work with Lighthouse Works Director

by Jane Ahrens

The 7th and 9th grade students enjoyed a chilly excursion to the Clay Pits with Nate Malinowski, Director of The Lighthouse Works.  Mr. Malinowski gave students a brief history of the clay pits and then dug some clay for students to clean and bring back to the classroom. Students kneaded the clay to work out some excess water and further cleaned out debris. Later this week students will work with Mr. Malinowski and resident artists to learn about ceramics and create individual projects.
