Elizabeth Field Airport – 0B8
Managed by the FISHERS ISLAND FERRY DISTRICT

Please Note: It is very important to understand that NOTHING is allowed on the runways – including people, bikes, vehicles, and dogs.

The only exception to this is the end of Runway 12 (at the western end of Fishers Island). Please be especially mindful when crossing RW 12 going to and from Race Point. Vehicles, bicyclists, and walkers are allowed to cross the concrete apron by the stone breakwater to reach the Race Point road and return from that point. Everyone must stop, look and listen for approaching aircraft (take-off and landings) before every crossing. Situational awareness is very important as accidents can be catastrophic.

The weekend of April 18, 2015, an incident occurred involving two cars traversing the runway as a plane was departing Fishers Island’s Elizabeth Field Airport. Fortunately, the pilot was able to abort the take-off, and thankfully no one was hurt in what might have been a fatal accident.
