
FRAMINGHAM, MA: Louise (Genereux) Doyen, 92, died peacefully and comfortably surrounded by her family on Monday, April 17, 2017 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Southbridge, MA on October 4, 1924 the daughter of the late Joseph A. Genereux and Margaret (Connell) Genereux.
Louise was the beloved wife of the late Raymond F. Doyen who died on April 29, 1996.
She was the devoted mother of Robert A. Doyen and his wife Barbara Doyen of Old Lyme; Margaret “Peggy” Higgins and her husband Deacon Geoffrey Higgins of Wayland, MA and Nancy E. Allen and her husband John Allen of Brewster, MA. Cherished grandmother of Patrick Higgins and his wife Jenna of Philadelphia, PA, Thomas, Holly and Elizabeth Allen all of Brewster, MA and a great-granddaughter Olivia Small. Sister of Robert Genereux of Daytona Beach, FL and the late Charles Genereux.
Louise was a resident of Fishers Island, New York for over 50 years and moved to Brewster, MA where she resided for 20 years before moving to Framingham in September of 2016.
She received her BS in Education from Wheaton College and her Masters in Education from the University of Connecticut. For many years, she was the English teacher for grades 9 – 12 at Fishers Island High School before retiring. While living in Fishers Island, she was a long time active communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church.
In her earlier years, she and her husband Raymond loved to golf and ski. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow into adulthood. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her dearly.
At the request of her family, there will be no funeral home visitations.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 12:30 pm at Our Lady of Grace, Alpine Avenue, Fishers Island, NY. Interment will follow in the family lot in Fishers Island Cemetery in NY.
In lieu of flowers, her family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in her memory may be sent to the Fishers Island Fire Department, PO BOX 123, Fishers Island, NY 06390.
