Margaret “Peggy” (O’Connor) Partch of Marlborough, MA and Fishers Island, NY died Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Marlborough Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years old. She leaves her husband of 44 years, Gil Partch; and her children, Patricia Norton and her husband Glen of Boonville, IN and Fishers Island, NY; Pegi Everett and her husband Glenn of Marlborough; Pamela Chatham and her husband Mark of Charlton, MA; George “Chip” Griffin and his wife Carolyn of Maui, HI; Laurie Finan and husband Chris of Fishers Island, NY; Greg Partch and wife Dawn of Staten Island, NY; Doug Partch of Staten Island, NY; and Jeff Partch and his fiancée Kandy of Berkley Springs, WV. Peggy also leaves nineteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Her siblings Mary, Annette, Leona, Charles, and Phylis predeceased her.
Peggy was born in Lynn, MA, daughter of James P. and Leona (Gamache) O’Connor and has lived in Marlborough for more than 50 years. She graduated from Lynn Classical High, Class of 1946, and from Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School with a degree in cosmetology.
Peggy was the owner of Hair West Family Styling for more than 20 years and previously worked in Maynard, MA.
During her time spent on Fishers Island, Peggy was a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 1045. For more than 20 years she was the lead soloist at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church on the island. She enjoyed traveling and eating out. Most of all, her family was her life and she was at the center of it.
Following cremation, calling hours and the funeral service were held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the John P. Rowe Funeral Home Inc., in Marlborough. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to Salvator Padula, Chapter 82 of the D.A.V., P.O. Box 229, Marlborough, MA 01752.
The family has a special request: We heard there may be a recording of Peggy’s voice singing at a wedding or special event on Fishers. If anyone knows of one, we would love to be able to have a copy of it.
