IN MEMORIAM: Mary “Missy” Duryea Butterfield

Missy spent her teenage years in the 1950’s on Fishers Island and visited her family there as an adult.

Missy was born in New York City on August 26, 1938 to Sis and Bub Duryea. Raised in Old Westbury, Long Island, she attended the Foxcroft School and the Mannes School of Music in New York City.

She married Archie Peck on October 22, 1960 in Palm Beach and they had two children, John Peck and Nina Peck Noel, both of whom survive her. They were divorced in 1966. She married Bill Butterfield in 1976 and lived with him in Sun Valley until his death in 2005.

Missy died on January 9, 2016 in Midland, Texas after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers. Besides her son, John and his wife Men of Maui, and her daughter Nina and her husband Charlie of Midland, Missy is survived by four grandsons, Dillon, Ben,  and Nick Noel, and John Peck; two step-sons, Will (Cheryl) and Guy Butterfield; a step-daughter, Heidi Butterfield Spear (Jeff); and her two brothers, Bobby (Lovejoy) and Jay (Linda) Duryea.
