Planitzer of Carmel, Calif., was married Saturday evening to William Whitney Hayes, a son of Linda Snyder Hayes and R. Dixon Hayes of Princeton, N.J. The Rev. The bride is a maternal granddaughter of the late Peter F. Fleischmann, a former chairman and president of The New Yorker magazine, and a great-granddaughter of the late Raoul H. Fleischmann, the financial backer who was a founder of the magazine in 1925 with the editor Harold Ross.

Mr. Hayes, who is 32 and known as Whit, works in New York for UBS, the Swiss bank. He is a director in the global natural resources group of the investment bank, advising clients on mergers and acquisitions and capital-raising alternatives. He graduated from Princeton.

His mother retired as the executive editor of Bloomberg Wealth Manager Magazine, which was in New York. She is on the board of the Tanzanian Children’s Fund in Cambridge, Mass. His father is the chairman and chief executive of Paxton Corporation, a metal manufacturing company based in Princeton.

The couple, who were both volunteers at CityLax, a nonprofit group that instructs public school students in lacrosse, met in 2010 at a dinner attended by some other volunteers.
