IOD skipper Jonathan Farrar and his team from Fishers Island Yacht Club are the new IOD Worlds Champions.
Hosted by the Nantucket IOD Fleet and Nantucket Yacht Club, 14 boats from 5 countries competed in this annual event which moves each year to a new venue. All races this year were held outside Nantucket Harbor on Nantucket Sound. Before each race in the series, the crews rotated boats rather than racing in their own for the whole competition.
The week-long race began Monday, September 14 and racing continued through Friday, September 19. The FIYC team won 3 of the first 8 races and mathematically clinched the championship without having to sail the 9th and final race.
The FIYC team, led by Skipper Jonathan Farrar included Isabelle Kinsolving Farrar doing pit and tactics; Mike McNamara trimming jib and spinnaker; Kevin Wypychoski trimming main; and Kevin Gilman on the bow.
