Fishers Island Conservancy Bird Count

by Jane Ahrens

The Fishers Island Conservancy will be holding the Bird Count Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11 beginning at 7:30am at the Community Center.

The plan is to have two teams of 4 – 1 observer from the University of Delaware and three assistants in each. The protocol is a 3 minute point count at 12 half mile intervals. The hope is to have 50 meter circles at each point mentally broken into quadrants at each location.

If you would like to be a part of it, please contact either Tom Sargent or Joe Henderson (contact information follows). Spots are limited so please know the plan is to do a late June breeding count and a September count.
