H.L. Ferguson Museum’s “Edwin” is On the Move!

by Jane Ahrens

Tagged Osprey “Edwin” left Connecticut to begin his migration south on August 16th, a very early date for a male. He was already approaching Chapel Hill, North Carolina on the evening of August 20th. Follow his migration on the Museum’s website here: Track Edwin.

The solar-powered transmitter reveals altitude and has documented that Edwin has been catching thermal updrafts and gliding out of them as he heads south.

Predict his wintering ground and win HLFM prizes…
No one knows where Edwin will settle this winter, but the first four people who correctly guess the right country will win $25 gift certificates at the HLFM store. The person who picks the closest location within a country will win a pair of birding binoculars. All entries should be sent to fimuseum@fishersisland.net.
